An instant icon. Rare pleated circle top and short set by Issey Miyake from his Spring/Summer 1990 collection. This signature pleated style was showcased at the Energieen exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, where garments were laid flat, emphasizing the geometric nature of the garments in 2-dimensional form, directly contrasting their 3-dimensional silhouette when worn. It was again displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Manus x Machina exhibition in 2016. This collection was a precursor to the formation of Miyake's Pleats Please line in 1993.
Avant garde pullover style top features a poncho-style neck opening and short sleeves on a spherical body that folds into a flat circle. Matching high-waisted pull-on short has an elastic garter at the waist and patch pockets at the back. We would wear with a black Maison Margiela Tabi boot, geometric drop earrings, and our hair stick-straight. Medallion yellow, merlot red.
